Lemonade Series – Making the Best with What We Have – Fun Date Reviews

Arts District Los Angeles – GPSMYCITY Self-Guided Tour

Lockdowns over the last year have presented us with mostly lemons as far as activities are concerned. You know what they say: “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!” It appears to be getting likelier that lockdown will slowly lift over the next several months. So it’s time to double down on making that lemonade.

We’ll be making lemonade with the help of the GPSMYCITY App. Not only will we be getting some excellent walking exercise in, but we’ll also be doing some exploring and advanced scouting for what should be some great date ideas. Some of these stops will make their way into the Date-a-Base!

The LA Art District Walking Tour is a distance of 1.7 miles one way. There are eight attractions. Unfortunately, the art galleries, museums, and small shops are temporarily closed. However, the restaurants are open with outdoor dining, and there’s plenty of street art to view.

It starts with Angel City Brewery, which has some curious potential. Galleries and museums on the walk include Art Share LA (a combination gallery and performing arts center), The Architecture & Design Museum, and The Institute of Contemporary Art. Restaurants include Bavel (cuisine from Israel, Morocco, Turkey, and Egypt), Zinc Café & Market, and  Guerilla Tacos (excellent street tacos). The Pie Hole also has some outdoor dining (good for a sliver of blueberry pie and a cup of coffee).

The Self-Guided Tour here is clearly an afternoon activity for a couple who has already been out on a few dates or is in a committed relationship. You can check the museums, art gallery, street art, and shopping when it opens and have plenty of options for lunch. I would not recommend this as a first date activity. However, ROW DTLA, which was closed and is located at the end of the tour, has good first date meetup potential.

Security is good in this area. There’s a district security team on bikes, and the Los Angeles Police also have a visible presence in the area. Parking is easy to find right now, but taking an Uber here would be well worth considering in the future.

Guys – I would recommend you take some time and walk this tour in advance for a great date and conversation idea.

Gals – When things open, this area would be a fun visit with your friends for an afternoon of shopping.

– Paul
